        Rice Heterosis Research and Utilization Research Team

          Principal Investigator: Liu Wuge, Research Fellow

         

           The research team consists of 10 members and Prof Wang Feng is the academic leader. The main research directions include genetic dissection of heterosis-related traits in rice, efficient breeding techniques of hybrid rice, and the development of new hybrid rice varieties with high quality and high yields. The team has won 3 first prizes, 3 second prizes and 1 third prize of provincial science and technology awards. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the team presided over 18 national and provincial projects with an accumulated fund of 31.14 million yuan, published 19 papers, obtained 36 new plant variety rights, and achieved a transformation of 12.75 million yuan. It has successively bred 133 national or provincial varieties, which have been extended to over 100 million mu in China, creating huge social and economic benefits.
